Principal Dentist

​Maria has vast experience in General Dental Practice. Her relaxed, calm and reassuring manner has built a trusting relationship with her patients over the span of 16 years practicing in Edinburgh.

As a graduate of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), she has practiced in both Mexico and the UK where she settled down with her family. With a career stretching over 35 years, she has amassed a wide working experience in communicating with and caring for patients of all ages. Maria remains equally passionate and keeps abreast with dentistry by attending postgraduate courses.

​Maria is bilingual, fluent in both her native Spanish as well as English. She is happy to provide care for patients in either language.

Outside of dentistry, she appreciates spending time with her family, gardening and travelling.

Caroline graduated from Birmingham in 2002 and has been dedicated to general practice ever since, first in Leeds and now in her hometown of Edinburgh.

Known for her caring and approachable nature, she takes the time to listen to her patients, ensuring they feel heard and involved in their treatment decisions. She is passionate about patient education, empowering people to improve and maintain their oral health.

Committed to continuous growth, Caroline regularly attends postgraduate courses and reflects on her work to provide the highest standard of care.

Outside of dentistry, she finds joy in nature-whether running, outdoor swimming, paddleboarding, or snowboarding. When she’s not kept busy outdoors or with her two daughters’ activities, she enjoys working on creative projects in her spare time.

Dentist

Eirini Graduated with BDS from University of Dundee in 2023, completing her Vocational training in the Dundee area and Core training in Maxillofacial Surgery and Public Dental service in Fife. Currently, she splits her time between general dental practice and secondary care in maxillofacial surgery in hospital.

Before starting her journey in dentistry, Eirini completed degrees in Biological Sciences (Human Health) and Biomedical Engineering.  What led to her career switch was the desire to work with people and the fulfilment from finding solutions to everyday issues they may face. That’s when she decided that a healthcare role would be a better match for her, combining her previous knowledge of human biology, medical devices and materials to real clinical application.

With a wide range of knowledge and her caring nature, Eirini is committed to providing tailored made treatment plans according to people’s needs of any age.

During her free time, Eirini is involved in research combining digital technology with the care of patients born with cleft lip and palate as an associate with the University of Dundee. She is currently attending the HCP-Medicine course provided by the University of Edinburgh. Lifelong learning is part of her lifestyle. Eirini also enjoys spending quality time with friends sharing views and listening and playing music. 

Senior Head Nurse

Kelly is a Senior Head Dental Nurse with over 15 years in the dental profession, bringing a strong foundation of clinical expertise, leadership and exceptional patient care. She is recognised for her professional and. enthusiastic approach, alongside her commitment to maintaining the highest standards in every aspect of her role.

She consistently gives her full effort in everything she undertakes approaching each dat with dedication, positivity, and a genuine passion for the profession. She takes great pride in supporting both patients and colleagues, helping to create a welcoming, efficient and caring environment.

With a natural ability to connect with people, she brings warmth and a great sense of humour into the workplace, believing that a smile and positive attitude can make a real difference in both patient experience and team morale. She is deeply committed to making each day productive, enjoyable and meaningful for everyone around her.

Trainee Dental Nurse

Kirstie is a Trainee Dental Nurse at Newington Dental Care. She enjoys working in a team with the dentist to provide high quality care, whilst simultaneously supporting the patient throughout whatever procedure they may be undergoing. Kirstie is bilingual in both English and Spanish, and is happy to chat to patients in either language. 

Previous to working in dentistry, she has dedicated her time to drawing and painting. Her extensive education in Classical Art at some of the world’s leading ateliers gives her a unique perspective, which lends itself well to the more aesthetic and restorative elements of dentistry such as the shade, colour temperature and translucency of teeth.

You can see some of her paintings hanging up in the waiting room and the links room connecting the surgeries. If you are curious about her work, she also has a website and business cards available at the front desk. Outside of Newington Dental Care, Kirstie enjoys outdoor activities, working on her oeuvre and spending time with family and friends. 

Receptionist

Mairi is our Receptionist at Newington Dental Care. Her warm demeanour and past experience in working in customer service has proved beneficial in her formal training at the practice. 

Mairi graduated with a Joint Honours degree in Modern Languages from the University of Glasgow in 2022 and has since spent time working abroad in education and hospitality. She is fluent in both French and Spanish and is happy to help patients at the reception desk in both these languages.

Her background in education has been of great assistance to her when aiding patients at the reception desk or over the phone. Mairi takes great interest in patient care and easing patient experience from the moment they step through the door at our practice. She is enthusiastic in her work and professional in her support of the team around her. Outside of Newington Dental Care, Mairi enjoys playing music, travelling and spending time with her family and loved ones. 

Business Development Manager

Douglas is an experienced Business Development Manager and has been overseeing the development of the practice in the run up to us opening. He is also a qualified accountant.
