Principal Dentist

​Maria has vast experience in General Dental Practice. Her relaxed, calm and reassuring manner has built a trusting relationship with her patients over the span of 16 years practicing in Edinburgh.

As a graduate of the Universidad Nacional Autónoma de México (UNAM), she has practiced in both Mexico and the UK where she settled down with her family. With a career stretching over 35 years, she has amassed a wide working experience in communicating with and caring for patients of all ages. Maria remains equally passionate and keeps abreast with dentistry by attending postgraduate courses.

​Maria is bilingual, fluent in both her native Spanish as well as English. She is happy to provide care for patients in either language.

Outside of dentistry, she appreciates spending time with her family, gardening and travelling.

Dentist

Caroline graduated from Birmingham in 2002 and has been dedicated to general practice ever since, first in Leeds and now in her hometown of Edinburgh.

Known for her caring and approachable nature, she takes the time to listen to her patients, ensuring htey feel heard and involved in their treatment decisions. She is passionate about patient education, empowering people to improve and maintain their oral health.

Committed to continuous growth, Caroline regularly attends postgraduate courses and reflects on her work to provide the highest standard of care.

Outside of dentistry, she finds joy in nature-whether running, outdoor swimming, paddleboarding, or snowboarding. When she’s not kept busy outdoors or with her two daughters’ activities, she enjoys working on creative projects in her spare time.

Dental Therapist

Alexandra began her career in dentistry in 2015, she initially qualified as a dental nurse, gaining valuable hands-on experience and working alongside inspiring clinicians who supported her professional development. She later graduated with honours from The University of Edinburgh as a Dental Therapist and now works within her full scope of practice, delivering preventative and restorative care to patients of all ages.

During her undergraduate training, she developed a particular interest in paediatric dentistry, leading to the award of the British Society of Paediatric Dentistry Undergraduate Prize in 2023. Alongside clinical work, she contributes to the wider dental community and has authored an article in the Dental Health Journal examining the link between infective endocarditis and periodontal treatment.

Alexandra is currently undertaking a Master’s degree in Cosmetic and Aesthetic Medicine, expanding her skill set to include evidence-based aesthetic treatments such as Botox and dermal fillers, supporting a holistic and patient-centred approach to care.

Outside of dentistry, she enjoys long walks and staying active through Pilates and tennis.

Senior Head Nurse

Kelly is a Senior Dental Nurse with over 15 years of experience in the field.

She will not only give support to the dentists in surgery, but given her vast working experience, Kelly will be providing training for all incoming members of the dental nursing team.

Her charm , enthusiasm and dedication to providing quality dental care has made her a valuable team member at Newington Dental Care

Business Development Manager

Douglas is an experienced Business Development Manager and has been overseeing the development of the practice in the run up to us opening. He is also a qualified accountant.
